Sled enthusiasts from around the nation come to Fairview Canyon this weekend to hill climb, drag race, and show off their high performance equipment. Turbo and nitrous sleds are the Norm. This is not an organized event! No registration required- just come and have fun!

The celebration focus is on the Relic Home and Peter Madsen Blacksmith Shop at 150 South Main Street. Scones and cotton candy for sale as well as a luncheon at noon at the North Stake Center (461 North 300 West; cost is $7.00. During the luncheon there will be a reading of City Council minutes 50 years ago, a reading of Alice Hafen’s ‘I Wish I Had A Washing Machine” and musical performance.

This event includes a 25 mile and a 50 mile ride in the country just north of the Gunnison Cemetery. Base camp at the old rodeo grounds. Cost is $50.00 for the 25 mile ride and $85.00 for the 50 mile ride. This includes a catered Dutch Oven dinner after the ride at the Gunnison Park. The big event for the Friends of Spring City is Heritage Day!

On this day, and this day only, many residents open their historic homes, which have been carefully restored, to tours for the public. Spring City is the best preserved example of an early Mormon pioneer village. Spring City is on the National Register of Historic Pioneer Towns.

8:00 am to 10:00 am – Breakfast 
8:00 am until ‘Goodies’ are gone – DUP Bake Sales, In front of the DUPMuseum. 
9:00 am to 2:00 pm – Ticket Sales at the Old School and Main St. Firehouse 
9:00 am – Art Squared Auction (Closes at 2 pm Sharp) 
9:00 am to 4:00 pm – Art & Antique Show at the Old School 
10:00 am to 4:00 pm – Home Tour. Tickets can be purchased at the Old School and local galleries: $10 for Adults and $5 for children under 12. 
Noon to 1:30 pm – Lunch at the Bowery & Award of Scholarship.

For an exciting evening under a canopy of stars, join us at the foot of the magnificent Manti Utah Temple to watch the Mormon Miracle Pageant. The pageant’s three intertwined stories of the restoration of the gospel, the witness of the Book of Mormon, and the journey of the faithful pioneers to the beautiful Sanpete Valley, demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ for all people.

Performances run June 21 – 30,2012 except Sunday and Monday. The Pageant begins at 9:30 PM and is Free of Charge.

Mt. Pleasant Hub City Days

Ends: Monday, July 04, 2012Celebrating the Fourth of July in Mt. Pleasant has always been a family affair, and includes many days of exciting community events. Fourth of July activities include a parade down State Street, early bird breakfast at the park, food, games and entertainment at the park all day and one of the few remaining Soap Box Derby races. Festivities at the end of the day include a rodeo and spectacular fireworks display.

Hub City Days also includes our Mountain Man Rendezvous with muzzle loader shoot-outs, exhibits, trading, displays, candy cannon explosions, tomahawk and knife throwing contests, frying pan tossing, dutch oven cook off, kids games, native American dancers, historical reenactments and more. Participants camp out in authentic teepees and wall tents during the three day event. Spectators are always welcome at these rendevous.
